Finn and the swirly spin

The luck of the Irish can be something many bettors would love to have on their side when they take to the slots. Whilst developers may not always want to provide their players with that kind of advantage, it seems NetEnt have decided to give them something along those lines at the very least.

Their Finn and the Swirly Spin slot game features heavily with the Irish theme and players are provided with a rather light-hearted game that has a cartoonish look to it. Players will love the fun feeling it provides and we sure readers will want to hit the reels when after reading our Finn and the Swirly Spin game review.

Gameplay

The Finn and the Swirly Spin slot game is anything but traditional, thus providing bettors with something rather different. The slot game is played on a 5×5 grid but does not feature any paylines. Wins are made when at least three matching icons are formed in a line, either vertically or horizontally. Any three in a row, regardless of where it appears on the grid, will provide players with a win!

Players can place bets from as little as €0.10, whilst those that want to play high-risk can place a wager of up to €200 per spin. There is a ‘Max Bet’ button that allows these players to achieve the bet with just one click. Those that want an easy gameplay experience can also look to use the ‘Autoplay’ button as well, as this will allow them to sit back for a number of set spins and just watch the action unfold.

The symbols with the lowest values on the paytable include the stone spades and the wooden hearts. The clovers, acorns and horseshoes, though, provide players with the bigger wins. If five of the rubies are matched, though, bettors can receive 500x their bet. Players can get up to speed with what each symbol pays out by playing the Finn and the Swirly Spin Free Play version.

Feature Bonuses

When a win is formed, those symbols will disappear from the grid and will see the icons move in a swirling motion towards the centre of the grid. A spiral pattern will show how this process works and the icons will follow it.

Wilds are formed in the shape of a star with normal win combinations and these have the ability to substitute other icons on the paytable to produce further wins. This wins, though, will not generate more stars, but they will destroy the symbols adjacent to the combination that was formed.

If the key at the bottom of the grid can be pushed all the way to the keyhole at the centre of the screen, then the Free Spins round will be triggered.

Players, though, will be provided with a number of different features that they can trigger. One will be available to begin with, but the more keys collected, then the more features become unlocked.

In total, there are four free spins options to choose from. They are as follows:

  • The Star Bar: This is the first option available. Players get seven free spins whilst two or more Wild stars will be automatically added to the reels to begin win, thus providing a guaranteed win on each spin.
  • The Lava Lair: Unlocked with four keys, this feature offers players three games. During this game, wilds will be replaced by sticky wilds. The Dragon Destroy feature is always in play, destroying a number of symbols to create a win if your initial spin does not result in a prize.
  • The Lucky Mug: Nine keys are needed for this game, with a further four games available. When no win is present, the Irish Luck feature is guaranteed to trigger, adding a full line of one symbol in order to ensure a big win.
  • Golden Pot: Only available with 16 keys, this game awards two free spins. The Magic Transform feature will transform the low-paying symbols into the highest values, thus making it likely that bettors will enjoy some big wins.

RTP (return to player)

Our Finn and the Swirly Spin review found that NetEnt have set the return to player (RTP) rate at 96.62%, thus providing players with a reasonable chance of protruding a number of wins when spinning the reels.
